MISSION WORK

Agua Prieta Sonora, Mexico. May 2010

Our time in Mexico in May 2010 started with a 14 hour van ride that began at 3am, due to needed “auto repairs”…(the trip wound up being a lot of fun and we really got to see the Lord move!)

We actually made it to Agua Prieta, Mexico in time to get cleaned up at our hotel before the evening service… We walked into a crowd of about 1500. The place was alive with dancing, ringing taborines and a clapping/singing crowd.

After the music and dancing was over, the service was turned over to Pastor Sun Hui East, by Pastor Jose Luis de la Torre … David translated as Pastor Sun Hui East “lit the crowd up”! (she told us later that the Holy Spirit took her a totally different direction than she had planned to go) She preached on “getting together with and supporting” your pastor as he moves with God. (later we found out that this was the exact issue in the church currently as they have a huge building project on the table right now & really need the congregation to get fired up about “reaching the lost” in that city)

After a powerful service, almost everyone in the church came forward to repent for being luke-warm. That altar call was followed by many raising their hands for healing… (most of the complaints were heart trouble, diabeties & chest pains of many kinds) … we watched person after person get relief from pain as Pastor Sun prayed over them. (She would pray over them… Jason, Jim & Tom would catch them before they hit the floor and the rest of us would surround them and pray as they laid there under the Lord’s power.)

One of those that came up for prayer, was a man that Pastor Jose told us later was an engineer by trade and volunteered huge amounts of time and energy to the church. (the Lord touched him so powerfully that after Pastor Sun Hui East prayed for him, he suddenly dropped to his knees sobbing uncontrollably and didn’t stop for a long time… anyone who touched him began to cry as well) The pastor told us that this man was needing heart surgery in the next month and was praying for a miracle during our visit!

The next morning, all 12 of us met in Pastor Sun’s hotel room and knelt for prayer… we prayed hard, for 2 hours! The Holy Spirit was so strong that many of us were moved to tears as we asked the Lord to help this city and heal people tonight in the service, Pastor even anointed some dirt to symbolize asking for the land to be “healed”. (later, Pastor Sun Hui East told us that it often takes 2 hours of prayer to break the spiritual strongholds in an area) We ended our prayer time singing worship songs together…

We did hit a tasty Mexican restaurant and enjoyed each other as we laughed and talked our way through some wonderful food.

In the afternoon, we went out to see the new church site… it was four city blocks of dust, with only a cement foundation of the church in place. The future plans were to put, not only a church seating 6000 people, but also to have the entire area used for ministry. They plan to have a rehab center, a school, a training center for young adults as well as housing as many as 70 of them while they are evangelizing the surrounding area.

We did a quick, outdoor service for the crowd that came to the building site late that afternoon. (Kelly had brought children’s clothing and lots of toys to give away). All of this, along with food we bought that day had gotten the people there… Tom told the story of “a man named Jesus” and David sang some songs to get them engaged.

Before the food was even brought out, 90% of crowd raised their hands to accept Jesus!

An hour later, we were back at the church for the second night of “Revival”… what a night! The service was not over until almost midnight as there were SO many people standing in line wanting for healing.

The service was even more powerful tonight as Pastor Sun talked about FIRE! The Lord had everyone in the place shouting FIRE as by the end of the service. David followed Pastor closely and did a great job of keeping the crowd with her. (the congregation was moved powerfully to “back” their pastor in his vision for their future)

That night’s crowd for healing was bigger than the previous night’s (seemed that the “word had spread”) This prayer time got really interesting as we had all kinds of things happen! Everything from an autisic little boy trying to kiss Pastor Sun on the lips as she prayed for him… to a homosexual woman vomiting on the altar as perversion spirits left her!

Person after person came through the line, pointing to an area of their body that hurt, while David translated their words to Pastor Sun… many went down shaking as spirits left them, while many others just had a shocked, joyful look on their face as the pain left their bodies… amazing!

After this, one more Mexican meal provided by the church staff and drive till 4am …
