Under God, Part Three
by Pastor Sun Warren

The third part in the Under God series, this book continues the study of Hosea, verse by verse, into chapter 4. Each one of these three books looks at God’s deep love for Israel as shown through Hosea. God’s deep love is also for America, but there will come a time of judgment upon this land if we refuse to repent, just like there was upon Israel because they continually held onto their sin.

God is looking down on this country; He has visited this land over and over again. His eyes are on this land. His ears are inclined to those who have been praying. The nation that prays and seeks God will never fail. The nation that seeks the truth, who sends out missionaries, who helps the poor, and rebuilds churches will never perish.

America started out good; we have a good heritage, a good foundation. We have a good foundation because our forefathers loved Jesus. We must keep that heritage. We must build our house upon this good foundation, our spiritual house and physical house. But somehow, as time has passed by, we have lost our connection with the true heritage of this country. We are like Israel during the time of Hosea, in the Old Testament. Israel had left God. They wounded and bruised God’s heart. They had a name, “chosen one”, “anointed one”, and “holy people”. But their hearts were not chosen. Their hearts were not anointed or holy. Their hearts were with the Baal god; they were in idolatry. They had a form of godliness but their hearts were with idols. They committed harlotry.

God spoke through the prophet, Hosea, and said, “Oh, Israel, come back. Destroy every idol. Then I will forgive you.” But Israel’s heart was very hard. They had a hard heart, a stiff neck; they were very stubborn. You can work with sheep because they will always come back to the shepherd. But Israel turned into a calf, stubborn and rebellious. God used Gomer to show Israel His true love, His forgiveness, and that He is a God of mercy and love. God had compassion and a burning passion for Israel, but they could not feel that burning passion. Their hearts were like ice, frozen. Finally, God handed them over to Syria, their enemy. Their nation died.

God doesn’t want this to happen to America because He has a strong and deep love for this land; He still wants to use America. In the midst of our land are all kinds of different beliefs and ideas about God. Those ideas are false ideas, false doctrines, from the devil. America is looking for an altar, a place where they can worship God, but they don’t really want to worship God. They do not really look for a true altar. They are looking for a place where they can fellowship, perform, and have programs.

The churches in America have turned into Laodicean churches. People’s hearts have become very lukewarm. God says to America, “I am still waiting for you. If you come back, I will give you the last, greatest revival. You will hear the sound of My angels singing like the sound of many waters. They will rejoice with you. I am a holy God. I long for true worship. America, come back to Me. Don’t be like Israel. I am He who is, who was, and who is to come.”

Who Is, Who Was, and Who Is to Come

Holy, holy, You are so holy
You are the Lamb of God
I hear the angels sing,
“Holy, holy is the Lord”
“Holy, holy is the Lord”

Oh, hallelujah,
Oh, hallelujah,
You are magnificent God
Who is, who was, who is to come

You are my endless worship
You are my endless worship

You are the glorious King
Who was slain for me
Every creation shall sing to Jesus
“Glory, honor, and power forever”
“Glory, honor, and power forever”
