" Come to Me, all you who labor
and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke
upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and
My burden is light."
Matt 11:28-30
First Love Christian Church has had the opportunity
to minister to and be a blessing in several parts of Central
America, from Guatemala to Panama, in critical events such as
Hurricane Mitch, which grew to become the Atlantic basin's fourth
strongest hurricane ever with sustained winds of 180 mph October
26 into early October 27, 1998.

It was the strongest storm in the western
Caribbean since Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. Mitch stalled off
the coast of Honduras from late on Oct. 27 until the evening
of Oct. 29 before moving slowly inland. As the storm's winds
weakened it continued dumping heavy rain on Central America,
causing floods and mudslides that had been blamed for at least
10,000 deaths by Nov. 2. On Nov. 3, Mitch's ghostly remains
entered the southern Gulf of Mexico and warm waters rejuvenated
the system into a tropical storm. This horrible catastrophe
opened the doors for us to go and be a blessing to many of the
hurting people in a little town in the south of Honduras called
Choluteca.

Another door that was opened for us to minister
came through the devastating earthquake of January 2001 that
left more than a million people destitute in El Salvador. Many
of the houses were made out of stone and they were just shaken
into a pile of rubble. To escape, many had to run into the streets
and by the time they turned around their houses were reduced
to a pile of stones. Many people were injured and the hospitals
were overwhelmed.
God opened the doors for Pastor Sun Warren
and her team to be a blessing to those places when they needed
it the most.
We also had the opportunity to visit the sweet
people of Guatemala. They received us joyfully, with grateful
hearts, for the food and aid provided from the mission team.
We had a great time in His presence teaching
the bible to them, using an interpreter from English to Spanish
and from Spanish to their native dialect. After having a bible
study and a prayer for salvation, many gave their lives to Jesus.
We want to encourage you to be part of this
wonderful work that God is doing.
Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful,
but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest
to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
And He said to them, "Go into all the world
and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and
is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will
be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe:
In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new
tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything
deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on
the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:15-18
There is just so much that we can do; we also need your help.
