First Love Christian Church has worked with
Pastor James Santhosam, founder and president of Prince of Peace
Ministries in Chennai India, a great man of God with a powerful
testimony. He has dedicated his life to the vision he has received
from the Lord. He is deeply committed to pioneering churches
in the unreached villages of South India.
We visited Madras, now known as Chennai, a city on the east
coast of southern India. This is the capital of the state of
Tamil Nadu, India's fourth largest metropolitan city and one
of the 35th largest metropolitan areas in the world. With a
population of over 6 million people, Chennai is a city in continual
growth and expansion every year.
History has certainly left its mark on this city, which is believed
to have been the home of St. Thomas in the outskirts of the
city.
We visited several villages across Chennai and realized how
terrible the spiritual condition is in this country. There are
idols and pagan temples everywhere.
In a nation where the main religion is Hinduism,
we were surprised to see so much hunger in the people of India
to know the only and true God, Jehovah God. The meeting was
packed to its full capacity with men, women and children in
the two-night revival. There were no chairs so people sat on
the floor, on the fences and even outside where they could watch
Pastor Sun on televisions set strategically in places for those
who couldn't get in. There were people sitting even on the top
of the houses surrounding us, trying to see what was going on
there.
It was amazing to see that immense crowd lining up for prayer
and to hear powerful testimonies about the miracles that God
had done in their lives, and to see the tears in their eyes
when they gave their lives to Christ.
We pray that God opens the doors to visit Chennai again, this
time with the opportunity to build some churches in villages
that need to be reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
People in India are hungry for something new, something real
that could fill the void in their hearts that the idols and
false gods could not. God is ready to do His part the question
is, are we ready to do ours? What are we going to do with what
God has given us?
We want to encourage you to be part of this wonderful work that
God is doing.
Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful,
but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest
to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the
gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will
be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And
these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will
cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will
take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will
by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and
they will recover." Mark 16:15-18
There is just so much that we can do; we also need your help.
