Repentance

We should not have any excuses as to why we are sad and down and heavy or have sinned. God made us overcomers. When we wake up in the morning, we need to say, "God, I can't make it without you. Help me this day." God is powerful. God is an awesome God. God is in this place in power.

What is repentance? How do we repent?

There are many people who say they are going to repent, but they don't really know what it means. The Holy Spirit really wants to teach us what true repentance is. Wherever the spirit of repentance is, the spirit of revival is there, too. When we receive the spirit of repentance, the Holy Spirit is so powerful.

This is the time that we need to know what true repentance is. We need to truly repent. Wherever the spirit of repentance is, there is great revival. Wherever the spirit of unrepentance is, there is anger and murder and strife.

God wants us to take repentance seriously.

This is the time that we must truly repent before the Lord, not just say with our lips that we repent. Jesus cannot live through you fully until you have the attitude of quick repentance. As long as you don't repent, your heart will be small and you will have anger and hatred and sickness. Your sprit will be sick and when your spirit is sick you will feel miserable in your physical body, too.

The Word of God tells us that repentance brings life. Even though we go to church everyday or even serve God, if we don't have a repentant heart, it is like a well without water. Repentance also brings blessing. Without repentance there is no salvation.

When we read the book, "Divine Revelation of Hell" by Mary Baxter, we read that there are some people in hell because of their unrepentance. The book mentions one woman who was married to a minister. Her husband committed adultery but she could not forgive him. He repented but she couldn't forgive him. Eventually she killed him and the girl that he committed adultery wit. Eventually she died and she went to hell. Her unrepentant heart led her to the pit of hell. She should have forgiven him and repented of her unforgiveness. But she didn't. The Word of God tells us to forgive the sins of others that our own sins may be forgiven.

Somehow, we all sin, whether on purpose or accidentally. If we don't repent before the Lord, we cannot receive the gospel.

After the Pentecostal Day, the disciples were filled with fire and they went out and preached. Peter was preaching to the people and they asked him what they should do to receive holy fire and the Holy Spirit. Peter said, "Repent." Even before we receive healing or financial blessing, we must repent of our sins.

Acts 2:36-38
""Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.""

If you don't repent, the Holy Spirit who lives in you will be quenched and grieved. Also, if we don't repent, we cannot receive the Holy Spirit. We must keep our hearts clean and pure. That way the Holy Spirit can overflow through us.

Only the blood of Jesus can wash away our sin and clean our hearts. Then we can be filled with the Holy Spirit. As long as you have sin in your heart, the Holy Spirit can't overflow through you. You need to remove that sin.

Before Jesus sent His Holy Spirit, this is what He told the people.

Mark 1:15
"...and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.""

Jesus told them to repent and believe in the gospel. First, we must repent. Without repentance we cannot get saved. First repent. Second, receive salvation. Third, receive the Holy Spirit. Then Holy Spirit can fill our hearts.
